Baltimore’s Washington Monument Lighting – December 1, 2022
This evening marks the start of the holidays in Baltimore with the 51st Lighting of the Washington Monument in Mount Vernon. Onlookers can start gathering around 5:00 PM to enjoy caroling, food stalls, warm drinks to combat the chilly air, and other festivities! Remember to bring gloves and a hat! The nearby Walter’s Art Museum will also be offering free, family-friendly activities such as a dance performance by Peabody preparatory students starting at 5:30 for those looking to spend some time indoors before the lighting begins.
The monument lighting itself is set for 8:00 PM, complete with fireworks and a light show that welcomes the holidays to Baltimore. Always a fun event and not to be missed!
For more holiday experiences in Baltimore, be sure to head down to the inner harbor between now and New Year's for ice skating and the German Christmas Market! The sweet wafting scent of candied pecans adds to the festive atmosphere. Also, you can check out the Holiday Festival of Trains at the B&O Railroad Museum, ride the Polar Express, and visit the Holiday Poinsettia Display & Train Garden at the Rawlings-Blake Conservatory, Hampden’s Miracle on 34th Street displays, and the Zoo Lights!
